Statement:

Natàlia Rabert Trapé was born and raised in Torelló, Osona region, and has lived surrounded by nature and love for her territory since childhood. Coming, in part, from a family of farmers, she created a strong bond with the profession from the beginning and this is reflected in some of her works, she worked with virgin wool from lambs from neighboring farmers, recovering them, recycling them, treating them, to later add them to his pieces, while searching for and explaining the love for his roots through material painting and textile collage.

She wants to highlight concepts such as "identity" or "heritage" in her works, which are made concrete through the materials she carefully selects and how they are treated, always with an eye towards local craftsmanship.

Her work:

In my first years as a Fine Arts student, I acquired the practices and self-knowledge that allowed me to guide my personal work, while looking for my role as an artist and as an individual and with a totally interdisciplinary attitude.

My closeness to nature by living in the countryside since I was born makes it one of my greatest references, the shapes, the colors and the souls that we find in it are a greatest delight. Also my experience in the world of fashion has made me my other great reference heavily influenced by sociology and popular culture, and everything that this new society of exaggerated consumption where we are currently, mainly due to social networks, can provoke in us as sensitive and fickle humans. I'm used to work on the concept of duality, of the search for identity. Today, the self-knowledge is harder and more difficult, since we often project on ourselves characters that do not correspond to us, which the same consumer society suggests to us, and often I try to find this conceptualization through lost, depersonalized characters, almost zombies.

I have my sights set on sustainability and that is why I choose specific materials as natural wool from my sheep's neighbours or natural fibers to make canvas. I am a defender of the artisany and the Catalan tradition, ecology and animalism, and that is also reflected in many of my projects.
